Founded in the late 70s in London, the psychedelic fur came directly from the British post-punk scene. The band around singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on the bass had established themselves in Europe with their self-titled debut album in Europe. But first talk talk talk, a year later, helped them to break through in the USA. This album also contained one of her best -known songs “Pretty in Pink”, which later served as the title song for John Hughes’ film classic of the same name.
The subsequent record forever Now contained her second big hit “Love My Way”, who was her first song to make it into the Billboard Hot 100. Even in recent generations, the song experienced a revival a few years ago-not least through the coming-of-age film “Call Me by your name”. In one scene, the main character dances to this song, which led to a significant increase in streaming numbers.
In 2020 the eighth studio album of the band appeared and the first in almost 30 years. On Made of Rain, the psychedelic Fur remain musically loyal. Her saxophonist Mars Williams died in 2023.
