On average, each municipality receives an additional 5.5 million euros in the bank account. The largest cities in Flanders catch the most tax money in absolute amounts. In Antwerp that is 548 million euros, more than 300 million euros in Ghent. Leuven is in third place.
Completely on the other hand, the three smallest municipalities in Flanders are: Herstappe, Mesen and Horebeke. Together those three are good for 2.5 million euros. Of the total sum of 7 billion euros, that is only 0.04 percent.
