The German handball players ended the European Championship qualification with a win. They presented themselves hungry against Turkey.

After the goal spectacle, Alfreð Gíslason ran across the field with a wide grin, and Julian Köster and Co. also read the joy of the successful reparation on the faces. With the 44:26 (21:11) against Turkey, Germany’s handball player at the end of the European Championship qualification showed the hoped-for reaction-and even set a record under the direction of national coach Gíslason.

“The victory gives us a good feeling. It was important that we started well. We spoke a lot about what we wanted to change. It worked,” said temporary captain Köster. The DHB team in Gíslasons had never scored almost five years of term as on Sunday evening. Germany ended Group 7 with an undefeated 10: 2 points.

The Euro ticket could not be taken before the last double game day, since the draw in Switzerland on Wednesday (32:32) was also clear-but Gíslason’s team absolutely wanted to show better performance than with the Swiss Consumers. This was impressive: During the EM show, the Gummersbacher Miro Schluroff convinced with six goals as the best thrower. Some regulars such as goalkeeper Andreas Wolff and Johannes Golla were spared, but Köster first led the national team as captain.

The European Championship draw will take place on Thursday in HERNING DANNISCHE, groupplace one helps for the seed list. The game against Turkey was also the last competitive game before the tournament in Denmark, Sweden and Norway (January 15 to February 1). The DHB team is now saying goodbye to a more than five-month break without an international match.

Seven junior world champions from 2023 and twelve players who are born in 2000 or younger were in the squad on Sunday. “The players who are there have a good chance of showing themselves,” announced Gíslason. It takes an increase in the Porsche Arena after the extensive parts of a frightening Switzerland game.

Unlike in many games before, the German team, which was operating with three right -handers in the back room, caught a dream start this time, after less than four minutes it was 5-0. In the front, Schluroff shone in the right back with almost perfect throw yield, David Späth nailed the box at the back. Only after a good eight minutes did the overwhelmed Turks score the first goal at the score of 1: 7.

With the first change after a quarter of an hour, negligence crept into German game, but Turkey could hardly capitalize. Aron Seesing and Matthes Langhoff now celebrated their international debut, at 20:10 after 29 minutes the lead grew to ten goals for the first time.

After the break, the false throws of the German team piled up, so the defense was no longer so determined in front of the Joel Bire Lehm, which was now in goal. Nevertheless, the distance continued to grow, the class difference was always noticeable. Gíslason eagerly tested his staff in the different positions. Timo Kastening scored the 40th goal seven minutes before the end – more should follow.
