With a lot of roar, Thomas Müller was adopted at FC Bayern after the game against Gladbach. But the party had just started there.
An era comes to an end: Thomas Müller played his last home game for FC Bayern on Saturday evening. The world champion was replaced in the 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 84th minute and celebrated frenetically by the fans in the Allianz Arena. His teammates stood trellis. Manuel Neuer even hurried out of his goal to hug the 35-year-old again.
After the final whistle, Müller was cheered again on a round of honor, later he was the first to stretch the master shell to the Munich night sky. Then he celebrated with the fans on the fence before ultimately putting on a big and emotional speech at the stadium microphone.
“I’ll go from this big stage. I loved being the modern gladiator,” said Müller, among other things. He also thanked the fans and all his companions. While he spoke, the fans of the trailers in the stadium open several times (you can read the whole speech by Müller here). Müller concluded with the words: “And now it is celebrated. I love you all! Make it good! Servus! Let’s go, now there is a party!” With which he actually heralded a long party night in Munich.
As several media unanimously report, Müller invited the Bayern team including the coaching staff and friends after the celebrations in the stadium in the “Jacob”, a luxury bar on Lenbachplatz in Munich. One of the first guests who appeared there was said to have been Uli Hoeneß. The honorary president arrived at 11:10 p.m., writes the “Bild”, for example.
According to the reports, Müller himself is not said to have been one of those present. Dayot Upamecano apparently came at 11:21 p.m., shortly afterwards Manuel Neuer. At half past two, the coach of 1st FC Nürnberg appeared: Müller’s ex-Mit player Miroslav Klose.
Around a quarter of an hour before midnight, other Bayern players crossed up: first Aleksandar Pavlović and some friends, then Eric dier with his partner. A little later, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry also arrived.
At 00.04, Müller then opened the “Jacob”. The world champion rose from a black van, wore a gray jacket and dark blue pants. According to “evening newspaper”, the party in the bar really started. The DJ has songs like “Jolene” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” played.
As it says, other Bayern stars gradually arrived, including Jonas Urbig with his girlfriend, Konrad Laimer with his partner, Jamal Musiala and the injured Alphonso Davies with his fiance. Sports director Christoph Freund and board boss Jan-Christian Dreesen also appeared, as did President Herbert Hainer.
Joshua Kimmich with his wife Lina was also present. The couple apparently left the party shortly before one. At this point, coach Vincent Kompany is said to have not yet been in the bar. The Belgian probably only arrived in the “Jacob” with his wife and father at 1.01 a.m.
According to reports, Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané and Daniel Peretz were among the celebrations. However, some professionals did not appear at all. Raphaël Guerreiro, Hiroki ITō and João Palhinha were said to be in the “Jacob”. And the top star shouldn’t have been there at Müller’s party either: Harry Kane.
Müller didn’t care. While most of his teammates left the party between one and two o’clock, he only made his way home in a taxi around 2.52 a.m. He had celebrated his farewell to “Jacob” for almost three hours.
