In Waalwijk there is again hope for a miracle after a very important win over sc Heerenveen. RKC, the latter was in the Eredivisie, won 3-1 against the Frisian club on Saturday evening. With that, the Waalwijkers Willem II are again at the heels in the relegation struggle: they climbed a place.
It was already nine matches since the team of coach Henk Fraser won for the last time. RKC was visible to a victory from the start of the match. Richonell Margaret broke through a number of times, which ultimately resulted in the opening goal.
At the end of the first half, SC Heerenveen returned after a penalty caused by Julian Lelieveld recklessly sliding on Levi Smans.
Many opportunities
The second half the Waalwijkers started strong and they were then also helped on their way by a red card against Ilias Sebaoui. After a long VAR check, he had to clear the field. A male more did not automatically mean a victory for RKC. The Waalwijkers created many opportunities, but the 2-1 only fell in the 75th minute. Yassin Oukili shot and four minutes later Chris Lokesa made it 3-1 with his head.
RKC now has two points more than FC Almere City, which will take action against Sparta Rotterdam at nine o’clock this evening. The backlog of number sixteen Willem II, which lost 1-2 on Friday to Heracles Almelo, is three points. The Eredivisie has two more rounds after this weekend.
