The German national ice hockey team celebrated a clear victory against Hungary on Saturday (May 10, 2025) at the start of the World Cup in Denmark and Sweden.
The clearly favored DEB team presented itself in the 6: 1 (2: 0, 2: 0, 2: 1) against the Hungarians over long distances of the game. Dominik Kahun (11th and 59th minute), Josh Samanski (17th), Lukas Kälble (35th) and Frederik Tiffels (40th) and Alexander Ehl (46th) scored for Germany, Gergö Ambrus scored the honorary goal (49.).
Deb team begins strong
Saturday for Germany’s ice hockey team started with positive news: NHL star Tim Stützle from the Ottawa Senators will strengthen the squad of coach Harold Kreis in the course of the preliminary round. Veigarn was not yet there, but even without the striker, Germany started strongly and controlled the game in the first third.
Kahun set the first fragrance mark when he had a remarkable quick attack in interaction with Justin Schütz and with his conclusion there was no problems with World Cup debutant Samanski a little later-but the goal was largely Lukas Reichel, who was worth seeing by a no-look pass.
Hungary improves – but Germany meets
After the Hungarians had hardly any offensive campaigns in the first third, the outsider increased considerably in the middle third. Deb goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer, NHL professional at the Seattle Kraken, got more to do, but parried safely.
But Germany always remained dangerous. As a result of a switching situation, Kälble came to the puck and, with a little luck, pushed the puck through the legs of Hungary goalkeeper Bálizs to 3: 0. Hungary was unable to maintain the good phase, instead Tiffels added a nice goal for Germany: Again the striking Reichel showed a great overview and put across the gate, where Tiffels was on hand and inserted it.
Kahun sets the final point
The tension was out in the final third, both trainers increasingly protected their top players. Game players from the back rows gained more ice age – one of them used it directly: Düsseldorf’s EHL benefited from Patrick Hager’s advance and used the fifth German goal.
Gergo Amrus scored the honor goal when he found a gap in the German defense in the slot – Grubauer was powerless at the end, which crashed into the goal over the inner post. However, this did not change the superiority, but Kahun put the end of the end with his second goal.
