Pure disappointment: Eintracht Braunschweig leaves many wishes open in Elversberg. Coach Daniel Schering in particular brings the first round to the palm.

After around 20 minutes of play when looking at the scoreboard, some are surprised: After a turbulent initial phase, it was a surprise in favor of SV Elversberg, who completely overwhelmed an overwhelmed Eintracht on Saturday. The goals of Fisnik Asllani (11th) and Muhammed Damar (18th/21st) met the BTSV hard.

The match plan of coach Daniel Schering was thrown over the pile early on, the BTSV was buried early in the relegation battle. “Because we simply defended desolate in the phase in which we got the three goals,” coach Schering scolded after the Sky microphone.

The decisive duels could not be won, he said. Because the Eintracht did not make a significant impact as a result and almost did not take place on the offensive, the game was almost decided after 45 minutes. Scherning also saw it this way: “It was a first half that you simply cannot pass,” said his relentless resumee. Goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann even spoke of a “catastrophe” in the first 45 minutes. “We weren’t ready for second division,” he said.

Despite six games in series without defeat, the situation for Eintracht Braunschweig in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga is suddenly precarious again. Because competitor Prussia Münster scored three times against Hertha BSC (2-0) on Friday evening, the BTSV slipped to relegation place 16.

Currently, Münster (table 14) and Greuther Fürth (15th) are still tied with Eintracht. Fürth can still pull away against Hannover 96 (1.30 p.m.) on Sunday. Münster also plays against the penultimate SSV Ulm on the last day the following week and has a lot of tailwind after two wins in a row.

However, regardless of this, the BTSV has to do its own homework anyway. Specifically: In the home game against 1. FC Nürnberg in the coming week, there are ideally a three points. Scherning is combative: “We have to shake ourselves, but take our heads up again. We will appear against Nuremberg differently. I am 100 % convinced of that.”

Then it could work with the direct relegation with the appropriate protective help. Otherwise it is probably the relegation. The duels with the third in the table of the 3rd division are scheduled for Friday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 27th.
