Last month, the RIVM warned not to eat the eggs from its own garden. Research shows that eggs can be contaminated throughout the country with PFAS. If you get too much from that, it is dangerous for health.
But according to Brunt, hobby farmers are left with many questions because of these warnings. “The advice came raw on my roof and I don’t even have chickens,” says Brunt. “What should that be like if you are a hobby chicken holder? Nice that you are no longer allowed to eat those eggs, but you have eaten them for ten years. You still want to know what the eggs of your chickens are. But testing costs around 260 euros.”
