Primark is expanding into the Middle East.

The Irish textile discounter opens up the region together with the retail franchise operator Alshaya Group, said Primark on Friday. The two companies, which already announced their strategic partnership in 2024, are planning to open four branches in the region of the Golf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The openings begin with a new branch in The Avenues, Kuwait, which will open in October 2025. This is followed by locations in Dubai in early 2026, including in the Dubai Mall, the Mall of Emirates and the City Center Meldif. After these first four branches, Primark wants to continue working with Alshaya at possible future locations in other GCC markets.

In a press release, Primark-Interims CEO Eoin Tonge says that the company is happy about the next step in global expansion. In the Middle East there is “already a strong group of customers: inside that is available and is waiting for us, and we believe that the wider region has a lot of potential for Primark and our promise of value”.

In a separate explanation, the Alshaya CEO John Hadden says: “Since we announced our cooperation a few months ago, we have seen how enthusiastic our customers are: inside of the fantastic branches of Primark, which open in the region. We are incredibly proud of our cooperation with Primark and we are all looking forward to the long-awaited first branches in the coming months.”
