Bishkek protests against the detention of a musician in Kazakhstan

Residents of Kyrgyzstan went to a rally in connection with the detention of the well-known Kyrgyz musician Vikram Ruzakhunov by the Kazakh security forces.

In Bishkek, 20 people approached the embassy Of Kazakhstan in protest against the detention of a jazz musician. They demand that the Kazakh authorities release him.

Kairat Primberdiev, a well-known singer in Kyrgyzstan, considers the accusations to be absurd. According to him, Ruzakhunov could not spend a lot of money on a flight to Almaty for the sake of earning 90 thousand tenge (about $ 200) at the rally.

The musician often went to Alma-Ata on tour. On the New Year’s Eve he was invited there for concert programs.

Ruzakhunov, detained in Kazakhstan, is a well-known performer of jazz music in Kyrgyzstan, a pianist and one of the organizers of the annual international music festival “Bishkek-Jazz-Spring”.

Kazakhstani media disseminated footage with the recognition of Ruzakhunov in participation in the pogroms in Alma-Ata. Traces of beatings are visible on the musician’s face. His detention caused a wide public outcry, users of social networks in Kyrgyzstan demand to stop collecting humanitarian aid for Kazakhstanis and return the peacekeepers, reports TASS
