The Pittsburgh Steelers sent Wide Receiver George Pickens in the NFL to the Dallas Cowboys. And there the eccentric star is already looking forward to the new opportunities that could arise from his partnership with teammate Ceedee Lamb.
Pickens has big plans in Dallas and made no secret of it at his introductory press conference on Thursday. “I just have the feeling that we are not duked at both schematically, so it will be a great thing for me and him,” said Pickens about the perspective of being on the field with Lamb.
One reason for his optimism in terms of the cowboys is a quarterback DAK Prescott: “One of the first boys with whom I was definitely in contact was DAK,” said Pickens. “If you watch your game over the years, it is a very productive quarterback. An intelligent QB. I’m just happy to work with him.”
Pickens also stated that he would move to Texas as soon as he found accommodation to be closer to Prescott and his colleagues. He also showed any assumptions that he could have a problem if he was only the number 2 receiver behind Lamb.
Pickens denies ego allegations
“To be honest, it is the first time that I hear something like that. I felt that two receivers were somehow normal,” said Pickens. “When I used to watch football, there was always a good receiver and on the other hand it was still a good receiver. I just think that we will benefit very well from each other.”
So far, however, his deeds on the square have suggested different. Again and again he was negative with various things. A few years ago, he refused to block Jaylen Warren for his teammate Jaylen so as not to risk any injury himself. And you could see him more often how he went over the playing field listless if he was not the primary receiver in a play. In addition, he was involved several times. Head Coach Mike Tomlin said last season that Picke gradually had to “grow up”.
When asked about it, Pickens said on Thursday: “I just take one day after the other. I think everyone in the world works to develop and improve themselves,” he said. “I have the feeling that my growth strikes a great direction due to my move to the cowboys.”
Pickens also explained that he initially did not strive for a new contract. His contract expires at the end of the season and he would earn $ 3.656 million.
