Together, Jupp Heynckes and Thomas Müller won the triple with FC Bayern 2013. Now the coach has advice for his former protégé.
Before Thomas Müller’s last home game in the FC Bayern jersey, a former companion spoke up – in clear words. Jupp Heynckes, former coach of the record champion, recommends the 35-year-old to end his active career.
“I would draw a line at Thomas’,” Heynckes told the SID. He does not consider a change abroad to be useful. Instead, the former triple coach advises to return to the club “in the near future”.
To quickly integrate Müller into the club should be a concern for FC Bayern, says Heynckes. “You shouldn’t miss such a jewel,” he said. Müller is “a funny man, also very intelligent” and has “a lot of” football. He will bring everything with him to take on a different role in Munich in the future.
Müller, who will play his last home game for Bayern on Saturday against Borussia Mönchengladbach, had been “an absolute top player” over the years, emphasized Heynckes. “He is an absolute team player who has always inclined to compensate in the cabin.” His football qualities are exceptional, according to the 80-year-old, who paid tribute to the Müller as “a great player personality for me”.
