The local police zone Het Houtsche received a report on Saturday 3 May around 2.30 pm about an attempted burglary in Beernem. Three suspects would have been driven to a home with a vehicle. Then two suspects with screwdrivers went to the rear of the house, while the third suspect remained at the front.
That suspicious behavior was noticed by an alert witness. On the arrival of the police, one of the suspects on foot took the legs. Despite a search, he could no longer be found. His two companions fled into a vehicle with a French number plate.
