The repair of the broken lock in Lith lasts until the end of November this year, reports Rijkswaterstaat. A collision with a large cargo ship in February was damaged, among other things, a door of the Noordkolk. That door was hoisted out of the lock at the beginning of March for further inspection. At that time it was not yet clear how much time was needed for recovery.
The door is dismantled as far as possible to be able to repair parts, or if necessary, to renew. When that happened, the door will be sailed back to the lock and placed in the Kolk again.
The damage to the concrete structure is also repaired.
Recreational season
The repair is expected to be ready at the end of November 2025. The Zuidkolk of the lock is open. This is only suitable for ships up to 113.50 meters long and 7.10 meters high.
The waiting time can rise due to the recreation season. Rijkswaterstaat advises boat owners to take this into account.
