For many, the problem with recycled yarns and fabrics is the assumption that recycled yarn cannot be as strong as yarns from new materials. This is where Unifi comes into play, manufacturer of the recycled polyester brand Repreve. The company recently launched Fortisyn, an abrasion-resistant and durable yarn that gives tissues improved tearing and tensile strength and thus offers a robust solution for military and use uniforms as well as tactical equipment.

“Fabrics with Fortisyn keep rough weather conditions and rough treatment and keep their shape, function and optics permanently,” explains Unifi in a press release. “In cooperation with weaving mills and strategic partners: Forisy’s strict fabric tests were subjected to confirm his extraordinary performance. The market launch marks progress for scaling recycled, circular technical yarns for particularly long-lasting applications,” adds Unifi CEO Eddie Ingle.

Fortisyn is available in Nylon 6.6 and Repreve Nylon, a recycled type 6 round yarn from post-industrial yarn waste. The latter is fully traceable by fiberprint technology and certified by U-Trust as well as eco-tex, GRS and SCS for the recycling share.

In addition to its durability and abrasion resistance, Fortisyn also offers the opportunity to achieve improved color fastness through spin -off coloring. It is available worldwide and in combination with other unifi yarnologies.

The company will present Fortisyn until May 8th at Techtextil North America in Atlanta.
