KalPa’s original name was Sortavala Palloseura (SPS). The club was founded in 1929 in Sortavala, while Karelia still belonged to the Finnish Republic.
The club’s range of sports included hockey, baseball and football.
In the 1930s, the Sortavala Palloseura was divided into two clubs, Sortavala Palloseura (SPS) and Sortavala Ball (SP). The range of sports remained unchanged.

And finally 96 years after its foundation, and hundreds of people’s work, KalPa celebrates the first hockey championship in his history.
