The German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl has been nominated for the most valuable player (MVP) of the NHL main round.
As the North American professional league announced on Thursday, the best striker of the Regular Season from the Edmonton Oilers is in the final selection. Cologne competes with goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets) and the best scorer Nikita Kutscherow (Tampa Bay Lightning) for the hard memorial trophy.
For Draisaitl, it would be the second award for the Most Valuable Player in the best league in the world after the 2019/20 season.
The chances are promising this year too, with 52 goals in 71 games, the 29-year-old won the goal scorer with some lead. The Russian Kutscherow meanwhile came to a total of 121 points in 78 games (37 goals, 84 templates) – Draisaitl recorded 106.
Hellebuyck convinced with a countercut of 2.01 in 63 games, of which he won 47 (best value among the goalkeepers).
