Breathe at the HSV Hamburg: The handball Bundesliga club will receive the license for the coming season. The club and HBL announced this on Wednesday.
The HSVH had only been granted the license two weeks ago by the handball Bundesliga (HBL) on one condition, which was now met by an additional certificate of liquidity. This ensures the game for the 2025/26 season. The Hanseates have already secured the relegation in terms of sport.
“We are in a different situation today than last year, have been set up differently and knew early on that a condition was coming. Since contractually agreed payments were not received, we needed some time to seriously implement a sustainable solution,” said HSVH Managing Director Christian Hüneburg. The deadline continued until Monday at 12 p.m.
“Much smaller sum” than in the previous season
For the current season, the Hamburgers had only fought for the license in front of the arbitral tribunal after a long hack. At the time, the licensing commission did not consider the condition that a liquidity gap must be closed. In contrast, the club was successful.
A year after the short -avoided descent, “this year was a much smaller sum than last season,” Hüneburg had previously reported. Before the current season, the entrepreneur Philipp Müller, who is now sitting on the HSV Hamburg supervisory board, had secured the license with a seven -digit sum.
There was no information about the amount of the sum, which had to be proven this time as a security deposit.
