Müller to Cologne? “You have to dream”

A 1990 world champion is concerned about prominent reinforcements for his heart’s club. Names appear that make you listen.
Thomas Müller will leave Bayern in summer. Wherever the 35-year-old is going, it has so far been open-a career end or a move to the North American MLS are obvious. Another option is now talking about a long-time Bundesliga professional: Pierre Littbarski can imagine Müller in the jersey of 1. FC Köln.
In an Instagram contribution, the 1990 world champion published a list with wishers for “effzeh”. “FC rises with absolute certainty. It has to be planned for the first division now,” he started in a video: “Christoph Daum once said to me: You have to dream to make the impossible,” he said.
A picture followed with the words: “The team needs fresh blood, energy, a hierarchy, quality, character, experience and leaders.” Then Littbarski presented his “suggestions”, a list of professionals that he would like to see in the jersey of the 1. FC: Fabian Reese (Hertha BSC), Robin Gosens (AC Florenz), Patrick Wimmer and Jonas Wind (both VfL Wolfsburg), Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen), Timo Werner (Tottenham Hotspur).
Financially, a transfer of this caliber for the Cologne second division team should hardly be able to be used. Even if, according to the “Bild” newspaper, around ten to twelve million euros could be planned for new players due to the possible Bundesliga promotion, Müller’s salary class is far outside of this framework. Cologne’s managing director Christian Keller has also shown himself as careful on the transfer market.
One should “at least ask some of these players whether someone would like to get to FC,” continued Littbarski. He commented on the post: “My dreams for the new FC season in the 1st Bundesliga. Don’t give up beforehand. A try is always worth it. Then you have to clean a lot of jacks with players and clubs and hopefully use good network.”
Regardless of this, Cologne looks back on a so far sporty successful season. Three game days before the end, the club leads the table of the 2nd Bundesliga and has a good chance of creating direct return. Littbarski spent most of his active player career at “Effzeh” (1978 to 1986 and 1987 to 1993). He also wore the German national team’s jersey over 73 times.
