Several games at the tennis tournament in Madrid had to be interrupted due to a power failure. But not only the players on the square were affected.
An unexpected power failure significantly affected the Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid on Sunday. The games also had to be interrupted on the Center Court of the Caja Mágica.
The encounter between Grigor Dimitrov and Jacob Fearnley was stopped at 6: 4, 5: 4. The reason was a stuck cable camera, the so -called Spider Cam, which got stuck directly above the field after the power failure. In addition, the electronic line calling was canceled-Madrid is dispensed with, instead the impact of the balls is usually technically checked.

Not only the players on the square felt the effects: Coco Gauff was suddenly interrupted in the winner’s face after their success over Belinda Bencic when the microphone suddenly failed. According to the ATP, two individual parts and a double were run at the time of the power failure. Sales and food stalls on the system were suddenly without electricity.
During the break, the pay TV broadcaster Sky, who broadcasts the tournament in Germany, once again showed pictures of the victory of Alexander Zverev about Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Zverev prevailed in three sets on Sunday.
The cause of the massive power failure, which affected not only Spain, but also Portugal and France, is currently still unclear.
