The United States have approved a sale of 175 Tomahawk-Cross flight weapons to the Netherlands. That made it US Department of Foreign Affairs known last weekend. This is a sale of long -distance missiles and supporting material for an estimated 2.19 billion dollars (1.93 billion euros). A Dutch application has been approved, although the final order still has to be made.

The Tomahawk rockets can touch targets more than 1,000 kilometers away from frigates and submarines. This would greatly increase the navy from the water.

“The proposed sale will increase the Dutch possibilities for increasing current and future threats,” writes the US Department. When strengthening a NATO ally, American security is also served, the Americans explain the decision further.

Submarine

On March 12, the Dutch naval ship Zr. Ms. De Ruyter is already an American Tomahawk rocket for the American east coast by way of a test. Then a spokesperson for the Navy told Anp news agency that the Netherlands is the fourth country that can launch this type of rocket. The systems must come on air defense and command regats, just like on four new submarines to be built, the construction of which was awarded to the French War Naval Group. These boats will take until at least 2034.
