Sports board member Max Eberl reacted to alleged sales lists at the German record champions before FC Bayern Munich’s championship finals. The 51-year-old was clearly about squad planning before the home game on Saturday (3:30 p.m./”Sky”) against 1.FSV Mainz 05. “We will also think about what we can do in summer without radical through this squad. What I always read: get out! And then new! No! We have a very, very good squad,” said Eberl in a little louder tone.
“We added players to players before this season. And we have reached the extensions that we have reached,” said the manager with a view to extended contract extensions with captain Manuel Neuer (39), Joshua Kimmich (30), Jamal Musiala (22) and Alphonso Davies (24). “Some are still open when we will think about how we can finalize them or not,” announced Eberl.
FC Bayern’s sports director Eberl: “We will adjust the squad”
The future of international Leroy Sané, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has not yet been finally clarified. The 29-year-old should remain for significantly reduced payments by 2028, according to the “Bild” podcast “Bayern Insider” the decision per FCB and against a better endowed offer from the Al-Ortihad Club. Eberl said that in the next few days he will not expect further extensions.
“We will adapt the squad. There is also a bit of sale. But who and how, we do that in the background,” said Eberl. A number of actors from Kingsley Coman (28) to Min-Jae Kim (28) to Sacha Boey (24) are traded as sales candidates to reduce costs and create opportunities for newcomers.
For right -back Boey, who came from Galatasaray for 30 million euros in early 2024, he did not get a call from Turkey, said Eberl on request. The Istanbulers should be interested in Boey again.
Eberl about Bayern poker around Wirtz: “When Fernando is bothering …”
Eberl was also asked about the criticism of Bayer Leverkusen’s chief Fernando Carro on the loud public Munich advertising around national player Florian Wirtz (21). He had always held back there personally “and kept the ball flat,” emphasized Eberl, unlike the Munich supervisory boards Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “Fernando has the right to say that if it bothers him,” says Eberl. The Munich advertising for desired players Wirtz should hardly affect it.
