Washington (dpa -AfX) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will present its new forecast for the further development of global economy this Tuesday (3 p.m. CEST) in Washington. IMF boss Kristalina Georgiewa had already warned of the aggressive customs policy of US President Donald Trump before the dangers of trade barriers. “Trade tensions are like a pot that simmered for a long time – and now boiled over,” she warned. She announced that the new growth forecast would contain significant downward corrections, but would not predict any recession.
For the global economy, the IMF predicted growth of 3.3 percent for this year. For Germany, experts expected growth of only 0.3 percent. The fund for Germany again predicts the weakest growth among the leading western G7 industrialized countries. It should now be exciting whether the IMF will correct this forecast ./nau/dp/he
