Ambitious transfer

It all seemed very ambitious, the initial period of Jelle Vossen at Zulte Waregem. The goalfetter came over from Club Brugge in January 2020 and was company of Olivier Deschacht, Saido Berahino and Gianni Bruno, among others.

At the time of the transfer, Zulte Waregem held the eighth position and three days after his transfer, Jelle Vossen against Waasland-Beveren was already twice on the cannon in the 5-0 win. The ambitions were immediately added strength.

“This is a successful debut. I am not yet 100 percent satisfied, but that is no more than normal. I only trained with the boys twice. I am critical and should have scored a third time. But I can finally enjoy again and I feel a football player again,” he said after his debut at the Nieuwsblad.

But Corona would stop the five match days later. Essevee barely grabs 2/15 and foxes no longer scores. On the last day of play, Anderlecht Essevee gives a twist around the ears with a 7-0 ball wash.

Changeable second season

In his second season (2020/21) on the Gaverbeek, Vossen wants to do better, but the farmers start with a 0/6 on the new football year. It is only on match day three that Zulte wins and Jelle scores. Vossen is not allowed to participate against his ex-club Club Brugge, from the stands he sees his team losing 0-6. A few weeks later they lose successively from OHL (2-1), Antwerp (1-3) and Ostend (3-0). Essevee dangles at the bottom and the otherwise easily scoring his goal total is on 2.
