Good news about the lonely kestrel on the nest box of Marga van de Ven. She was still worried on Sunday, because for the first time in four years no partner of the kestrel was shown on the nest box. She asked forester Frans Kapteijns if the chances of a litter were gone. Frans stated her with the announcement that the breeding season will continue until July. Marga promptly sent a happy message. A man had reported and it is now continuously ‘ball’ on top of the nest box and surroundings.

Frans asked Marga to keep him informed of developments. Frans knew that because promptly popped up the following response in his driftmail bin. “French it worked out well with the kestrel. So you are quite right. They mate it all day long.”

As proof, she sent photos of the couple in action. For the past four years, the kestrel pair has always made four offspring. As soon as there is offspring, Frans hopes that they will also be recorded on the sensitive plate by Marga, then they will get a place in his weekly driftmail.
