Vivien Insam had to accept many health setbacks in her career. Now the 27-year-old has ended her sporting career.

From 2018 to 2022 it started a total of nine times at World Cup races. But even after that, Vivien was still on the slopes – until now. The ski racer from South Tyrol announced her end of your career on Instagram. Most recently, the 27-year-old had to struggle with the Pfeiffer glandular fever last season. In addition, it was thrown back several times by injuries such as cruciate ligament tears, meniscus damage and kneecap fractions.

Now she wrote to a series of pictures of herself with teammates and companions: “After many descents, falls, climbs and achievements, an important chapter in my life ends today: my ski career.” On one of the snapshots in the video you can see how the ski racer is in the snow, in a complete racing gear, including a helmet and glasses. In the background there is a sunny winter landscape with snow -covered mountains. Insam looks at the camera with a smile – a picture that symbolizes joy and at the same time saying goodbye.

Insam also wrote: “It was a dream that I’ve had since my childhood and I did it! Despite the obstacles, despite the injuries, silent fights and the moments when it was impossible to give up the easiest way.”

In addition, her family’s athlete thanked her for the support in recent years and concluded with the words: “Every curve taught me a bit. Even the hardest.”
