A post by The Cure on social media ensures joy among the fans of Robert Smith and Band. On Friday (April 18), Cure posted two photos and a snippet. Provided with the heading “IV-XXI-MMXXV”, i.e. April 21, 2025. Robert Smiths 66th birthday. In the past, the Cure boss used its birthday to publish albums (such as “Wish” 1992), that is, giving yourself and us.
A mixer can be seen in picture one. Then the shell of a music cassette and the label “Cure” and “Moalw”. It could/should be the abbreviation “Mixes of a Lost World”. So a remixalbum of the eight songs by the studio album “Songs of a Lost World” published last November.
Image two shows an iPod Classic, Robert Smith’s favorite data carrier (he has several of them, as he said in an interview). Anyone who ranks on the display sees song titles like “All I ever am” with the remixing additive “65 Slow Chord version”.

Finally, photo 3 shows a short music video, probably the remix of a Cure song of “Songs of a Lost World”.
Robert Smith announced for the first time in December 2024 that a new The Cure album will “hopefully be released before the next summer”, ie 2025. In November only “Songs of a Lost World” came out, her first studio leaf in 16 years.
“The counterpart to” Songs of a Lost World ‘”
On December 15, the singer announced again in the British radio show “X-Posure” that another album was almost completed. Only the final order of the tracks has not yet been determined. “It is always about which songs fit together best,” says Smith. Now, however, the Goth-Rocker moved out for the first time with a vague appointment. The new LP is “the counterpart” Songs of a Lost World “and hopefully will be released before the next summer,” said the 65-year-old. “In some ways it is not so dark, although it probably contains the saddest song of everyone.”
In addition to the songs already played live that have not made it to the previous album, there will also be completely new material. Robert Smith stated that the group had recorded 24 titles for a double album over five years ago. So for the future, this does not look bad for Cure fans. “There could be two more eight-track albums if we want. But I think the next will probably contain ten songs,” said the front man.
The source of new pieces seems inexhaustible
Smith recently commented on the successor plants in the starting blocks. In an interview with the British “Absolute Radio”, he said in early December that new Cure LPS was far from over. “Then there is a third that is completely different. It’s really more random stuff, like nightly studio recordings. But some of it is really good, it’s just very, very different.”
This current announcement follows the recent publication of the live album “Songs of a Live World” from the exclusive release concert of the current record in the London “Troxy”. What works at first glance like a good sound carrier business in the run-up to Christmas has an honorable background. The band donates all revenues from the sales to “War Child”, an NGO that is committed to the future of children in war zones.
