The concern for Lil NAS X was great: the musician recently had to go to the hospital with one sudden. The rapper shared a video via social media that showed him in a hospital body in a bedside. He directly told his fans the reason for his short -term delivery: Apparently he “lost control of the right half of the face”. When he laughed, one side of his face actually remained silent and emotionless. The video showed that Lil NAS X could move the lips and the right eye, but not the remaining muscles. “I can’t even really laugh,” said the musician. “What the devil! Oh my god.”
In the meantime, however, there is a slight all -clear: In a later update, the artist revealed that at least the lower part of the right half of the face could be moved a little again.
Chewing gum support
In order to support the healing process, the 26-year-old would now regularly chew chewing gum. “I chew a lot so that the muscle becomes stronger again,” he said in his Instagram story. And Lil NAS X then added: “It’s much better!” Although his left eye still has to catch up, he was in good spirits. “I can show a real smile again – that’s something,” continued the rapper via socials.
Cause still unclear
What exactly triggered paralysis is still not clear. The musician himself did not put any facts open.
However, some fans suspect Bell paralysis (also Bell’s Palsy), a sudden, mostly one-sided facial paralysis in which the muscles of a face are paralyzed. It arises from inflammation of the facial nerve, often without clearly recognizable cause. In many cases, the condition improves itself after a few weeks to months. Others suspect Ramsay Hunt syndrome, as Justin Bieber once had.
What else is there
Musically it continues at Lil NAS X: Only recently has he released his EP Days Before Dreamboy – the first foretaste of the upcoming album Dreamboy, which is to be released in the course of the year. In 2024, the documentary “Lil NAS X: Long Live Montero” (2024) appeared on Amazon Prime Video, which accompanies him on his first North America tour. He gives insights into his everyday life and reflects topics such as identity, family, expectations and acceptance as a queer, black performer.
