Large package for the RB21 starting from Saudi Arabia, up to Miami and Imola: in the spotlight aerodynamic variations to the bottom and a redistribution of the weights. Objective to mend the gap with McLaren, to convince Max
Red Bull is ready to introduce a large package of updates to the RB21 to Gedda, according to rumors from sources close to the Milton Keynes team. In detail, in addition to the obvious adaptation to the characteristics of the track that requires a very low aerodynamic load for wings and a reduced ground height, it is believed that the main area affected by this development is under the bottom, from an aerodynamic point of view. The central section of the bottom, to be more specific, will be different in the area of the external junction edge, where the center of the bottom connects to the lateral ventur channels. This should determine a different pressure management under the car, functional to the backward movement of the aerodynamic pressure center.

In addition to the aerodynamic side, it is also believed that part of the mechanical packaging inside the sides could change with the aim of simplifying internal fluidinomic, but also to partially play with the distribution of weights, within the close limits imposed by the regulation. It is believed, and we can consider it an adage similar to that relating to the Ferrari SF-25, which on the RB21 there is a sort of discrepancy between the aerodynamic configuration and the dynamic prerogatives of the car, which causes the lack of balance and overall performance. At the same time, in Red Bull they believe that even services can be appropriately extracted with a close development program. Saudi Arabia will, in fact, be the first of three development phases, with the second expected in Miami and the third in Imola.
It is a sort of “all in” for Red Bull, which aims to recover and have a stable performance platform over three races. In essence, it can be considered represents the extreme recovery attempt not only of the chances to return to the struggle for the title with McLaren, trusting in the possibility of making the performances that have allowed Verstappen to win in Suzuka repeatable, but also, in the second instance, to distance with a solid season this year the spectrum that outlines according to the most insistent and circumstantial voices of the Verstapper release End of the season towards Aston Martin (lately the most accredited to welcome him in 2026) or Mercedes.
