CEO Alexander Wehrle has extended his contract at VfB Stuttgart by four years until 2030. The 50-year-old has been chairman of the spoken professional department of the Swabians since spring 2022. At that time he followed the former international and ex-VfB professional Thomas Hitzlsperger.
Most recently, coach Sebastian Hoeneß had already extended the VfB until 2028 – and without exit clause. Sports board member Fabian Wohlgemuth and sports director Christian Gentner, whose contracts run until 2027, are also bound to the club in the long term. Now there is also clarity with Wehrle.
Born in Wehrle and VfB President Dietmar Allgaier, who is also a supervisory board head of the AG, recently reported discussions about a possible contract extension. The supervisory board is said to have approved the corresponding decision at a meeting on Wednesday evening.

At the general meeting of VfB on March 22, Wehrle announced that the AG generated a record profit of a good 15 million euros in the 2024 financial year. The club benefited, among other things, from the income from the Champions League and the player sales of Serhou Guirassy, Waldemar Anton and Hiroki Ito last summer. This season, the runner -up threatens to miss the European Cup places in the Bundesliga. VfB can still reach the Europa League via the DFB Cup, in which he will meet Arminia Bielefeld on May 24th in Berlin.
Wehrle said: “VfB Stuttgart is and remains a matter of the heart for me – all the more I am happy about the trust of the supervisory board and the continuation of our common path. In the past three years, we have made sporting, economically and structurally important progress and re -positioned VfB as an attractive location in national and international football. Future issues on infrastructural projects such as a new club center, a venue for women’s football and our U21 and a museum that makes our special story experienced. to tackle. “
