FC Liverpool has extended the expiring contract with captain Virgil van Dijk by two years. This was announced by the club on Thursday (April 17, 200).
“It makes me proud and happy. It is simply incredible. I can now extend my previous career with this club for two more years. It’s fantastic and I’m so happy”, said the 33-year-old Dutch.
Before the second championship with Liverpool
Van Dijk, who has played over 300 competitive games for the Reds since his change from Southampton in January 2018, is the head of defense and has been wearing the captain’s armband since 2023. With him Liverpool won the championship and the Champions League.
Liverpool continues to prepare for the future. Most recently, striker Mohamed Salah had also extended until 2027. Trent Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, could leave the club, his contract expires at the end of the season. Most recently, he was associated with Real Madrid.
