Coffeeshop Caza in Tilburg will never open again. After ten attacks and various lawsuits, the owner puts an end to it. With the man from whom he rents the property, agreements made about the termination of the lease.
The CAZA operator does continue to challenge the decision of Mayor Theo Weterings of the municipality of Tilburg to close his business to the Gasthuisring. He wants justice, reports his lawyer, Bisar Cicek. Weterings took the far -reaching measure after Caza had once again become the target of an attack. He also withdrew the catering license of the coffee shop owner.
Operator does not want to wait any longer
According to Cicek, his client can no longer afford to wait until the moment that the procedure is completed at the municipality, and possibly afterwards at a court. That can take months. With pain in his heart, he will say goodbye to his coffee shop after more than thirty years. It is not known whether the ‘Cazaba’ is now starting another company.
At the beginning of this month, the Tilburger received zero on the court in Breda. Although the judge showed an understanding of the operator, the continuous attacks committed on CAZA could no longer be guaranteed safety. Closure is therefore justified, the judge ruled.

Cicek and his client find that unfair. “It is extremely sad, because the mayor and police have not done everything they could do,” they respond. “How can you have only arrested a few running boys after ten attacks? How can you say with dry eyes that the police do not have enough capacity? In what a rule of law do we as criminals know that they can help a company with fireworks that are legally for sale in Belgium?”
‘Type of chain reaction’
The counsel can understand why his client is no longer there after the forced closure, the withdrawal of the catering license and the cancellation of the lease by the lessor. “It is a kind of chain reaction, a domino effect,” Cicek summarizes the issue.
Despite two lawsuits against suspects of a number of attacks, it is still unclear who has ordered this and why.
The fact that CAZA is no longer opened also has consequences for its customers. No coffee shop may be run at this location.
