The minister already announced the speed increase in December, but the effective date was not yet known.
From today, road users can drive faster between the Stevinsluizen and the Lorentzsluizen.
No obligation
The new speed limit only starts when the new signs are along the road, says Madlener. Those signs will be revealed today and placed in the coming days. Madlener: “We think it is important that it is immediately clear that you can drive 130 during the day. That’s why we put enough signs.”
The new maximum speed is not an obligation, the minister emphasizes. “By the way, you don’t have to drive 130, you can also just drive 100 on the right track.”
Nitrogen
Increasing the maximum speed to 130 is an important topic for the cabinet. But noise and nitrogen rules often turn out to be difficult to realize. The minister still has a number of processes in mind, but those preparations are still ongoing.
