Cycling from Zuidlaren to Haren should become easier, more fun and faster. The continued bike route should make that possible. A route has been determined before that cycle path.
The route goes to Midlaren and via Noordlaren the path goes to the Appelbergen nature reserve. Cyclists can follow two routes at that location: a recreational route through the forest or across the Rijksstraatweg and Zuidlaarderweg in Glimmen.
The road then passes via the railway viaduct near Onnen over the Onnerweg towards Haren. In the end, the route is connected to the Doorbietsroute from Haren to Groningen.
When making the path, nature and the landscape in the area are taken into account. The provinces of Groningen and Drenthe and the municipalities of Tynaarlo want to encourage that as many people as possible go on the bike. Now around 1,500 to 2,000 people cycle between Zuidlaren and Haren every day. The continued bike route will be approximately 11 kilometers long. Provincial States will make a decision on the route before the summer.
