After Karlsruhe’s lightning tour, Prussia Münster ran unsuccessfully for a long time. It was only in the final phase that the enormous commitment of the climber was at least partially rewarded at 1: 1 (0: 1).
Due to the victories of the direct competitors in the relegation battle (Braunschweig 4: 2 at HSV, Ulm 1-0 against Magdeburg), the Prussians had come under a lot of pressure before the kick -off of their own game on match day 29. Lying on the relegation ranking against the KSC was absolutely a victory to counter in the fight for relegation.
This is precisely why KSC coach Christian Eichner struggled with the course of the first half. “At the break we should have put the lid on the pot for three quarters“, said Eichner in the Sportschau interview:”And if you then have to defend flanks, corner balls and thrusts every minute, it is difficult.“
Nightmaring start for Münster
But the start of the match for the hosts came to the nightmare: just twelve seconds were played, when the ball was already fidgeting in the Münster Tor. The KSC played the ball up to the left edge of the penalty area after the kick -off. The Prussian interior defense misjudged that Dzenis Burnic was able to present Ben Farhat by breast. The youngster did not torch for long and chased the ball from twelve meters high into the mesh – 0: 1.
It was a shock for the hosts who were lucky a little later not to get 0: 2 behind. Burnic had free rail from Sebastian Jung from Sebastian Jung after a flat play, but failed with his degree to SCP keeper Johannes Schenk (6th).
KSC defense stands
Afterwards the Prussians were able to calm the game a little, but even came to really good opportunities. The Karlsruhe defense presented itself, the team around midfield engine Marvin Wanitzek simply looked more mature than Münster.
In the 36th minute it would have been a hair for the Prussians: after a corner kick, Joshua Mees suddenly stood bare, but failed with his header on KSC keeper Max Weiß.
Prussia at the front too harmless
The Prussians came from the half -time break with fresh strength, but with all the field superiority had an ongoing problem: they just remained too harmless at the front. Despite all the engagements, there was no real goal.
And yet the equalization fell, whereby a penalty had to come to the aid of the hosts. After Burnic’s handball in the penalty area, Referee Robin Braun went to the video monitor and, from sight, decided on the pictures on a penalty. Marc Lorenz did not miss the chance – 1: 1 (73.).
