MIgyleia of Italian policemen made resistance, in various forms. Two are slaughtered at the Fosse Ardeatine. Others take weapons, starting with the four days of Naples, to defend citizens from the Nazi invaders. Dr. Antonino D’Angelo, born in Catania on 29 July 1912graduated in Law and Public Security Commissioner in Udine, was one of them.
He was imprisoned as a political prisoner for forty days and deported on August 26, 1944on a cattle wagon, first at the Dachau sorting center, then to Mauthausen. He wouldn’t return.
He and nine other policemen of the Udine police headquarters are now remembered for saving livesfor defending the population from Nazi violence, for having honored the values of civilization, humanity and justice, in the name of a collective consciousness. The show comes to life from the letters (made in verse by the playwright Marco Morana) and by the writings of his grandfather, relics, testament of his will and of what he hoped for his family.
