Last Wednesday, Tata announced to the outside world that the management intends to scrap 1600 full -time jobs. This is to improve the financial health of the company. Last year Tata suffered a loss of 556 million euros. On Friday afternoon the management addressed the staff in a private online session.
Part of Tata’s office staff used the lunch break to let the announcements sink in during a walk in the sun. Although not many employees want to respond to the camera, there is no mystery about what happened on the screen.
Online meeting of half an hour
The online meeting lasted about half an hour. During the explanation of the management, the staff had the opportunity to ask questions via chat. The questions with the most ‘likes’ were answered by the management at the end of the meeting. There were about five total.
Several employees announced afterwards to understand the difficult situation of the management. They also understand that something has to change. That they do not yet know what is going to change in concrete terms ensures that they go into the weekend with an uncertain feeling.
