Mohamed Salah is still facing a few milestones at Liverpool FC this season. But even beyond the season, the Egyptian sees its future with the Reds. After a longer hanging game, the club announced the contract extension with the top scorer on Friday, which is now probably bound until 2027. The LFC did not confirm this term, but at least Salah indicated it.

“Of course I am very enthusiastic,” said Salah on the Liverpooler website. “We have a great team now. We also had a great team beforehand, but I signed because I think we have the chance to win more titles. (…) I had my best years here. I played for eight years, hopefully it will be ten. I enjoy my life here, I enjoy my football. I had the best years of my career.”

In 2017 Salah from AS Rome changed to Liverpool, for which the Reds paid 42 million euros. Previously at Chelsea FC, which the previous Basler had joined for EUR 16.5 million in early 2016, Salah had not yet a successful breakthrough in the Premier League. Most recently, Salah had also been associated with a move to Saudi Arabia or Paris Saint-Germain.

The championship title is tangible for Liverpool. The lead over Arsenal is seven game days before the end. It would be the second time after 2020 under Jürgen Klopp that Salah will climb the Premier League throne with the Reds. Another top position is also imminent. With just one more goal, Salah would be the foreign professional with the most goals in England’s elite league. He is still at the top with Sergio Agüero. 185 goals would be new record. In the current season, Salah collected 27 goals in the league and also leads the current list of goal scorer with a large lead over Erling Haaland. In Premier League history, only four players met more often than Salah.
