No future at the HSV: offensive player before saying goodbye

After just one season, the paths of the HSV and Marco Richter will be separated again. The lending from Mainz is said to have cost Hamburgers around 300,000 euros last summer – so far, the investment has not paid off.

Apart from the first leg against Paderborn, Richter was used in every game, but the 27-year-old could not contribute much countable to the HSV season. One goal and two templates, more for judges is not in the books. Most recently, the offensive player, who has already played 176 games in the Bundesliga (24 goals, 19 templates), even lost his regular place and was only substituted for a few minutes.

The “Mopo” now reports that Richter should no longer have a future at HSV – a further obligation is unlikely. The “red pants” had not been guaranteed by Mainz 05 last summer. Also with his regular association, which is on the best way to surprisingly reach the Champions League, Richter should have poor prospects for playing time after a possible return.

After the audience record in the DFB Cup semi-final, the soccer players of Hamburger SV wave a new home: If the promotion to the Bundesliga succeeds, all home games in the Volksparkstadion should take place in the future. The club announced on Wednesday.

57,000 fans came to the stadium for the derby against Werder Bremen in March-more than ever in a women’s club football game in Germany. The HSV lost the game 1: 3 after extra time, but the interest was overwhelming.

“We know that 57,000 spectators will remain an exception,” said HSV board member Eric Huwer. “But the game triggered a lot with the fans, with partners – and especially among the players.” Due to the lack of alternatives in the city, the Volksparkstadion is currently the best solution.

The team is still in third place in the 2nd league – a place that would be enough to climb. Six game days are still to be completed. If it does not work with the climb, the HSV women remain in 6th place right next to the stadium.

Six games before the end of the season it is slowly getting serious for the HSV: the “red pants” have good cards in the promotion struggle with a six -point lead over the table third. On Tuesday morning, fans were able to stock up on the last home game against SSV Ulm on May 10 (8.30pm/Sky, Sport1) – it may be the decisive duel for the return of the HSV to the 1st Bundesliga.

It only took around an hour for all around 52,000 cards in the home area, although the high prices of up to 96 euros before were significantly criticized. Fans without a ticket must now hope for a return or the HSV ticket exchange. If Ulm does not need all 5,000 away tickets, the remaining cards will be sold freely via HSV.

For the home games against Braunschweig on April 11th (6.30pm/Sky) and Karlsruhe on April 27 (1.30pm/Sky), no more tickets are also available via the HSV. If the Volksparkstadion is completely sold out in all three games with 57,000 spectators, it would be a new HSV record. With then 13 out of 17 sold -out home games, the Hamburgers would come to a total of around 960,000 visitors and an average of 56,440. The previous records are only one year old: in 2024/25 the HSV attracted 951,312 fans to the stadium, an average of 55,590 per home game.

For Daniel Heuer Fernandes, the 3-0 at 1. FC Nürnberg was not only an important event from a sporting point of view: the 32-year-old was in the goal of the HSV for the 150th time. This brand cracked only seven other goalkeepers in the long history of the club.
