Almost all Drenthe municipality put a line through the Easter fires this year. In Aa and Hunze, Borger-Odoorn, Coevorden, Midden-Drenthe, Noordenveld, Tynaarlo and Westerveld, all fires were removed from the agenda due to the drought. Hoogeveen and De Wolden will announce tomorrow afternoon what will happen with the Easter fires in their municipality.
Assen and Meppel have not had any requests for Easter fires this year and in Emmen four of the thirteen Easter bumps are going on fire. It concerns the fires in Nieuw-Weerdinge, Emmer-Compascuum, Emmen and Nieuw-Schoonebeek.
Last week the Drenthe (VRD) safety region increased the natural fire risk to phase 2, or extra alert. This means that there must be a greater distance between the Easter fire and homes with a thatched roof and nature reserves.
