Jan Smit managed to fascinate a lot of viewers twenty years ago with his real -life soap just Jan Smit, and his sister Monique Smit owes her fame to it. Is this back on TV?
It was a soap that many people watched with pleasure: just Jan Smit, in which the lives of the folk singer and his family were followed. His parents were also visible in it and his sister Monique Smit, who became a well -known Dutchman. The show was on the tube twenty years ago, just like Frans Bauer’s first Reallifessoap.
After 20 years
Isn’t it an idea to make a follow -up soap again, just like Frans, two decades later? His sister Monique responds to that question in conversation with De Telegraaf. “That should be a season with Jan and his own family. But I don’t think this is the case,” she says.
Jan is not going to do that at all at this point in his life, says Monique. “He has young teenagers at home, who may not be waiting for that. I myself have been approached to vlog. I could earn a lot of money with that, but I always said that I want to share things the moment I want to.”
Satisfying
How does Monique look back on that soap series? “Is that already twenty years ago? Gosh. I certainly think back to that time. In fact, as a family we were sucked into it. My parents really did it for Jan’s career. It’s great that they have surrendered to this, because they don’t like attention.”
“I was sixteen when it all started. If you look at what kind of career I have built up in the meantime, you could say it all started there. I am of course grateful to Jan for that.”
