The shortage of 24 inch bikes – intended for boys and girls between 8 and 12 years old – is dire. As a result, there are now twenty children on the waiting list. Jan hopes that people want to donate unused children’s bicycles. “Poverty is everywhere,” he continues, “and also silent poverty. Nobody needs to be ashamed, I have experienced it myself, so just ask if you need a bike.”
