Hoogeveen is busy looking for a location for a new residential area. The perfect place must meet a number of conditions. For example, it must be possible to build quickly and be within cycling distance of the center.
This is apparent from a document from the municipality of Hoogeveen. The pillars are discussed in which a new residential area must exist. It is still a concept for which the city council still has to give. Next week they will first be briefed. As soon as everyone is on board, the search for the perfect place can begin.
A new residential area must consist of a mix of different homes, Hoogeveen writes. For example, we look at houses in the higher segment, but also at a life -course -proof for seniors and starter homes for young people.
In the short term, a suitable place must be ready for the arrival of 450 homes. Hoogeveen also wants the location to grow further in the future, for example with a thousand extra homes.
The residential area focuses on the city, not on the surrounding villages. The municipality writes in the villages in the villages to build houses. “In villages, it is mainly looked at how much need there is.”
A new residential area in Hoogeveen must come within cycling distance from the center and station. It is also important that shops, schools and other facilities are nearby.
Among other things, Zwolle is also looked at. The municipality of Hoogeveen says it has more jobs than working inhabitants. And that number is still growing. Because it is getting busier in the Zwolle region, Hoogeveen could become an attractive place to live for people.
