The municipality of Hoogeveen has closed a drug building on Schweitzerstraat in Hoogeveen this morning. Items have been found in the home that indicate the trade and storage of different types of drugs.

Mayor Martijn Breukelman therefore closes the house for three months. He wants to emphasize that selling drugs from home is illegal and is not tolerated. “That also applies to cultivation of weed in the attic, or offering room at a drug lab at home.”

Through Report Crime Anonymous, the tip arrived at the municipality of Hoogeveen and the police. Then there was an investigation and it was decided to close the building. “There is no place in Hoogeveen for this type of criminal activities,” says Breukelman.

The address will ‘cool down’ in the coming period, says the mayor. What happens with it afterwards is still unclear. With the closure, the municipality hopes to issue a statement. “And we want to do that more often to combat these types of incidents.”
