Riots overshade east-duel

The duel has overshadowed an incident between Jena and the HFC. Due to riots, the game had to be interrupted for a long time.
In the Regionalliga Nordost, the game between Carl Zeiss Jena and the Halleschen FC was overshadowed by fan riots. After the half -time whistle, the game was interrupted for almost an hour because fans of Halle had gained an illegal access to the interior. After the continuation, Jena won 2-0 (2-0) against the second in the table.
The Halle fans had been able to loosen a fence element from the guest block and had violently stormed in the direction of the home fans. The police intervened after a few minutes and separated both fan camps. As a result, a large contingent between the blocks of fans, which are directly side by side in the Ernst-Abbe sports field. Referee Jens Klemm only whistled the game again when a new fence element was used.
The escalation was caused by a flag that hung over the affected fence in the first half. “In the first half there was a flag over the fence field. It can be assumed that the fence field was removed under the protection of the flag. I am particularly annoyed that our good sporting performance of the first half is overlaid by these incidents,” said Jena President Ralph Grillitsch in the MDR.
