It doesn’t look good for Willem II, certainly not after the 3-1 defeat against Heerenveen on Friday evening. For the Tilburg people it was the ninth defeat since the winter break.
Willem II started just as strong, but soon the Romanian striker ion Nicolaescu escaped the defense. Three times was ship’s law, because after breaking through three times, he shot the ball out of reach of Willlem II keeper Thomas Didillon-Hödl.
To make matters worse, William II defender Raffael Behornek missed a life-sized chance of the equalizer in the 25th minute. Who knows, that goal could have given the game a different twist, but it couldn’t be. There was other Brabant success, but not in favor of the Tilburg people.
First goal ever
Sam Kersten, who plays for Heerenveen, but comes from Ravenstein, scored his first goal as a professional footballer. From a corner, he shot the 2-0 up close. The 27-year-old defender does not know what happens to him for a moment: it is his first goal in 217 games such as Prof. and yes, how do you cheer again? He mainly pointed to himself, for the teammates him fell around his neck.
Kersten played his youth for the local club vv Ravenstein in the municipality of Oss. The defender went through the entire youth education at FC Den Bosch and was a fixed value in the first team between 2016 and 2019, after which he left for the east of the country.
Second half did not bring much more
In the 66th minute, the Moroccan mercenary of Feyenoord dribbles the ball nicely in the Net van Willem II. He cut two Tilburg defenders for that. For a moment Willem II comes back: Jesse Bosch shot the 3-1 on the scoreboard with a long shot. That phase of resistance goes out quickly and it remains 3-1.
That does not look good for Willem II. After eleven games, the counter is only on two points. Next week a match against leader Ajax will follow.
