The three sisters from Haim reported back with their new single everybody’s trying to figure me out, which is a new step in their musical development. The song is the youngest teaser for the band’s next album, which is to succeed her Grammy-nominated album Women in Music Pt.III from 2021.
The new single is Danielle’s favorite song
Compared to relationships that brought more chilled mood, Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out is now a more intensive and personal way. It is a song about self -discovery and the courage not to be taxed by the expectations of others. In a post on Instagram, Danielle Haim explained that the song means a lot to her: “This next song we will publish is my favorite song, which we have written in recent years. The writing of this song helped me to get through some difficult times, and we thought it could be useful to get our vibes right for this summer!”
The sound: 90s vibes and perseverance
The song has a 90s vibe with Catchy Beat and melancholic guitar sounds. The repeated line “You Think you’re gonna the but you’R not gonna die” underlines the message of stamina – despite all doubt, it continues. In a last interview with us, the three California sisters talked about their own experiences with depression, and also about how they fought out again from dark times. A topic that you also address in your song “Now i’M in it”.
The personal story behind the song
Danielle said on Instagram that she wrote the song after a Panic Fall she had when she came home after a tour. Despite the overwhelming joy of the successful tour, she found that she was afraid of being alone with herself. “I was very confused because I was so happy about our incredible tour, but something was afraid of being alone,” said Danielle. “I realized that for a long time I have allowed others to tell me how to live my life. Then I found that I lost myself that I would like to make others happy.
In the meantime, the new single Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out is already outside. The song was written by Haim together with Rostam Batmanglij and Justin Vernon von Bon Iver, with Danielle to hear on the upcoming album of Bon Iver. What’s next?
Although there is still no official confirmation for the next album, the series of singles that Haim has published in recent months indicates that a new record could soon follow. While we are waiting for more details, the sisters have already confirmed a number of live performances for the coming months. This includes appearances at the “New Orleans Jazz Festival” and the “Primavera Sound” in Barcelona and Porto.
