The very large fire in a nature reserve in Budel-Dorplein on Wednesday night may have been lit. “We take arson and investigate the cause,” the police report.
The police speak with witnesses on Thursday morning and check whether there are camera images of the fire. “We also explore the possibilities for trace research. In general, fire investigations are often complicated studies because there are no or no traces,” she says.
A label of a washing fuel product was found at the site of the fire. An 112 correspondent from Omroep Brabant photographed the label. Batenzine is a solvent and is very flammable.
Fire
The fire brigade pulled out on Wednesday night with large equipment, but had great difficulty fighting fire in a nature reserve on the Havenweg due to the strong wind. The site was also difficult to pass. An area of fifty by thirty square meters has been on fire, reports a spokesperson for the Brabant-Zuidoost fire brigade.
First report
The first report of the nature fire arrived on Wednesday evening around a quarter past ten. In the first instance, the Brabant-Zuidoost safety region spoke in a piece of thirty by thirty meters that was on fire. But the fire quickly struck and spread rapidly. That is why it was scaled up to a very large fire.
Around a quarter to two the signal fire was given.
Other fire
A few hours before the fire there was also another forest fire in a nature reserve in Budel. The police say they could not report much about that fire. “We had no commitment to that,” says a spokesperson.
The fire brigade also pulled out with large equipment. An area of 50 by 50 meters was on fire. A little after six o’clock the signal fire was given. They were still wusted for a short time.
