Oliver Sykes, front man of Bring Me The Horizon, seems to be working on new music in the studio. The last album of the band, Post Human: Nex Gen, appeared in May 2024.
A new post on the singer’s Instagram account ensures speculation. You can see two Sykes selfies on which his head can be seen. Only the reflection in the window indicates where it is. Under the article he only wrote: “In the studio”. The brief announcement naturally lets the fans discuss in the comment column. “We need nex gene (deluxe) please,” said a followers. Other users: Inside, commented that there could also be broken songs of the album Sempiternal, since the post was published exactly for the 12th anniversary of the record.
Does the band need a break first?
It was only at the Brit Awards last March that Sykes revealed that BMTH would need a break at some point. “It’s just about finding this time,” he said. “I think we have to go away for a while, but it’s difficult because there is always so much that we want to do and so many places we want to tour.”
Apparently the time -out can still wait a bit. As early as December 2024, the singer “NME” said that he had “a few new songs” for the band’s headliner show at the Reading & Leeds Festival 2025. However, it should not necessarily be an album. Nevertheless, he revealed that there was “a little more about the ‘Nex-gen’ story to tell through music”. The 38-year-old continued: “We have a lot of ideas and lots, and there is enough that there could be an extended version of the record. I have worked a lot in recent years, so I don’t want to make promises. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen, but there are some music that our fans would love and it would be cool to publish them.” It is on the to-do list. “
Much still seems uncertain
When asked whether a new album in the group might appear in 2026, the Briton replied: “Yes, I don’t know. We haven’t really found it out yet. It could take a little longer. It is difficult to say at this point.”
So when there should be new music is uncertain. BMTH seem to have more precise ideas about the concerts. “We recently started to tackle the next stage of the live entertainment by doing things with augmented reality and simulated visuals,” says Sykes.
Just recently, Bring Me The Horizon announced a North America-Arena tour for the coming autumn. A few festivals – including “Rock am Ring” and “Rock am Park” – are also on the plan for the group.
