The KFC Uerdingen is currently playing in the Regionalliga West. But the club plagues big problems – not for the first time.
The KFC Uerdingen is once again on the abyss. As the district court of Krefeld announced on Tuesday, insolvency proceedings were opened for “insolvency and over -indebtedness”. The direct episode: Nine points are deducted from the traditional club in the Regionalliga West. Uerdingen thus slips to the penultimate place in the table – only Turkspor Dortmund is behind the club, but has already set the game.
The Krefeld tax office and the AOK Rheinland/Hamburg had submitted the application for the opening of the procedure. Uerdingen himself spoke of a million-dollar, but wants to continue the game despite the financial imbalance. According to the club, the license documents have already been submitted for the coming season, and the required deposit was also deposited.
On the club’s homepage, the club was combative: “We firmly believe that we can stay in the league when deducting a point with this incredible team and their indescribable morality.”
The club, which won the DFB Cup in 1985, last played in the Bundesliga in 1996. In 2008 he fell back to the sixth league. Uerdingen had to struggle several times in the past with economic problems – the last bankruptcy proceedings were opened in 2021.
